"We have been associated with Holly Cottage for 14 years and throughout that time we have known only kindness and care, and willingness to listen and support us and our son.
Previous experience had made us unable to believe we would be listened to or that we could put our trust in any organisation that professed to know how (or how not) to deal with our ‘case’. Holly Cottage gained our trust as we worked together to find a way forward, towards a more stable future for our son. Gradually, we became parents again able to enjoy more relaxed times together instead of ‘managers’ of situations which were increasingly beyond our ability to control.
Much effort has gone into creating a homely atmosphere at Holly Cottage. Some of that feeling has been achieved by the welcoming décor and improvements to the building. Staff are cheerful and competent, calming when residents may feel stressed or confused. Much care is taken in managing suitable individual food requirements.
Residents are encouraged to benefit from the immediate surroundings of the quiet, attractive village. The village hall is just a short walk away with coffee mornings and other events. Nearby towns and villages have other accessible amenities.
As parents, no longer young, we are less worried about what the future might hold for our son. Over the last 14 years, there have been changes in staff and of residents to which our son has had to adapt. These have enabled him to widen his experience of coping with change, yet not alone due to the stable influence provided by the leadership at Holly Cottage."

First and continuing Impressions as a visitor
On my first visit to Holly Cottage, after my friend moved there, I found it lovely to greeted by professional staff who made me feel truly welcome. The initial interaction left a lasting impression on me regarding the warmth and sincerity with which I knew my friend would receive not only when he moved there, but for his continuing care.
Exceptional Staff
The staff are amazing, and go above and beyond. Their dedication to their work is evident in every interaction. The kindness and patience they show towards my friend, is truly heartwarming. Each staff member seems to understand the importance of creating a nurturing environment and they do so with genuine care and compassion. Their professionalism is matched by their empathy, creating a supportive atmosphere which, I believe, makes a significant difference in the lives of the residents.
Personalized Attention
The attention to detail provided by the staff ensures that each resident's needs are met with the utmost respect and consideration. My friend’s comfort and happiness are always prioritized. The staff make sure he is cared for and his thoughts are taken into consideration.
Engaging Activities
My friend loves the singing and the various activities that are held for the residents. The range of activities ensures that there is always something enjoyable and stimulating for everyone. From arts and crafts sessions to musical performances. These activities not only provide fun but also contribute to the mental and emotional well-being of the residents, fostering a sense of community.
Meaningful Day Trips
The trips out are very important. These excursions offer residents a chance to break the routine, adding excitement and joy to their lives. Whether it's a visit to a local coffee morning, to the pumpkin farm before Halloween, or the end of the pier show at Cromer, these trips are meticulously planned to ensure safety and enjoyment.
Nutritional Excellence
The food is good with choices throughout the week and on the day. The variety in the menu ensures that all dietary preferences and requirements are met, including soft diets for those with swallowing problems, thus promoting overall health and satisfaction. Drinks and snacks are always available, and there is significant encouragement for hydration. The emphasis on good nutrition ensures that the residents are not only well-fed but also well-nourished, contributing to their overall health and vitality.
To sum up, Holly Cottage is a home from home with lovely professional staff who take good care of my friend and make him laugh.
